Tidio alternative: 5 honest options for your store (2026)

By Ezra Klijnsma, founder of NousuNousu is one of the five options below. Read critically: every price carries a source, and the Tidio entry says who should stay.

Short answer

The best Tidio alternative depends on what you outgrew. Tidio's Lyro is a capable widget bot that answers questions and meters AI per conversation. Nousu is an AI agent for Shopify and WooCommerce that also executes the work (order lookups, return labels, refunds) for one flat monthly fee. Gorgias, Intercom Fin, Zendesk, and Siena fit other needs.

First, a fair summary

What Tidio actually is

Tidio is an accessible live chat widget with the Lyro AI add-on. It installs fast, starts cheap, and runs on Shopify and on WooCommerce through the WordPress plugin. For a store whose support is mostly repeat questions, Lyro answers them in several languages and does native Shopify lookups on the higher plans. Plenty of small stores are well served by it, and if answers are all you need, this page will not push you off it.

Stores search for an alternative for two reasons. The first is capability: Lyro answers, but it does not process a refund or change an order, so the actual work stays in the queue. The second is the Lyro meter: AI is billed per conversation, so a busy month costs more than a slow one. Both are structural, not settings you can flip.

The options

Tidio alternatives, honestly compared

Each entry carries a real weakness and a source for every price. Where a tool is a better fit for you than Nousu, the entry says so.

1. Nousu

Our productFlat-fee AI agent

Nousu is our product, so read this entry as the vendor talking. It is an AI support agent for Shopify and WooCommerce stores. It answers customers and does the work: live order lookups, return labels, and refunds within approval rules you set. You run it in copilot mode per topic, or flip routine topics to autopilot when you trust it. EU data residency, GDPR.

The honest weakness: It is not a full omnichannel helpdesk. If you need phone support, SLA workflows, or a large app ecosystem, the established platforms have years of head start there.

Pick this if: You want customer questions resolved and store actions executed without a per-ticket or per-resolution meter, or you run WooCommerce and want it treated as first-class.

Pricing: Flat €29, €79, or €149 per month, sized by conversation volume (150, 500, or 2,500). Going over a bundle never bills overage: the busiest month costs the same as the slowest. 14-day trial, no credit card. As of July 2026, per nousu.chat/pricing, July 2026.

2. Gorgias

Helpdesk AI, two meters

An established ecommerce helpdesk with deep Shopify integration and a large app ecosystem. Order data sits next to every conversation, seats are never metered, and the AI Agent ships on every plan and closes routine questions on its own.

The honest weakness: Two meters run at once: the plan meters tickets, and the AI Agent bills per resolved conversation on top, at a rate not on the public pricing page. The invoice grows with your sales curve and peaks in November.

Pick this if: You are Shopify-first, want a mature helpdesk with a big app ecosystem, and have modeled your November volume on both meters.

Pricing: $10 per month for 50 tickets, then $0.40 per extra ticket; Basic $60 for 300; Pro $360 for 2,000. AI Agent billed per resolved conversation at a rate not published publicly. As of July 2026, per gorgias.com/pricing, July 2026.

3. Intercom (Fin)

Helpdesk AI, billed per resolution

Fin is one of the technically strongest AI agents on the market, and Intercom publishes its rate: $0.99 per resolution, charged only when a conversation resolves. Fin can also run standalone on top of an existing helpdesk, with a monthly minimum.

The honest weakness: Intercom is built for software companies. Order status, returns, and refunds all need integration work (Procedures wired to your store) before Fin can touch them, and seats plus resolutions grow independently.

Pick this if: Your support is closer to SaaS than to a store, resolution quality is your top criterion, and you have the engineering capacity to build the store plumbing.

Pricing: Seats from $29 per seat per month (Essential, annual billing). Fin at $0.99 per resolution on top. Standalone Fin carries a minimum monthly commitment. As of July 2026, per intercom.com/pricing, July 2026.

4. Zendesk

Enterprise platform

The mature suite for large support organizations: routing, SLA management, reporting, phone, and integrations with almost everything. If your support org counts dozens of people across teams, it belongs on the shortlist.

The honest weakness: Three meters for a small team: seats, a per-agent Copilot add-on, and AI billed per automated resolution at a rate Zendesk does not publish. Ecommerce depth comes from marketplace apps, not the core product.

Pick this if: You run a large support org: multiple teams, complex routing, SLA requirements, and an ops person to own the configuration.

Pricing: Suite Team $55 per agent per month (annual billing, US list). Copilot add-on about $50 per agent per month. AI agents billed per automated resolution; the list rate is not published. Third-party breakdowns put it between $1.50 and $2.00 (Macha, eesel). As of July 2026, per zendesk.com/pricing, July 2026.

5. Siena AI

Enterprise agent, behind a sales call

Ecommerce-native agent with a strong reputation for brand voice and end-to-end automation, sold through a demo process with managed onboarding and dedicated Slack support.

The honest weakness: A $750 monthly platform fee lands before the first ticket is automated, and the final quote sits behind a sales call. WooCommerce is not supported; third-party reviews list Shopify and Fulfil as the platforms.

Pick this if: You are a larger DTC brand on Shopify with the volume to dilute the platform fee, and you want a managed partner rather than self-serve software. Our full read is in the Siena review linked below.

Pricing: $750 per month platform fee plus $0.90 per automated ticket; final pricing customized via sales. As of July 2026, per siena.cx/pricing, July 2026.

The structural difference

Answers versus actions, and per-conversation versus flat

Here is the difference at 500 AI conversations in a month, with sources. Tidio prices in USD, Nousu in EUR.

Tidio (Lyro): the AI meter

Lyro starts at $32.50 per month for 50 AI conversations, roughly $0.65 each at entry volume. At 500 conversations you are into higher Lyro packages, and the cost rises with the count. Whatever the tier, Lyro answers and looks up; it does not create the return label or process the refund, so a share of those 500 still becomes human work. As of July 2026, per tidio.com/pricing.

Nousu: one flat fee, and it acts

500 conversations fits the €79 tier (sized for 500). The invoice is €79, and the agent executes the work within your approval rules, so the resolved conversations leave your queue entirely. Going over a bundle never bills overage, so a spike month costs the same as a quiet one. As of July 2026, per nousu.chat/pricing.

Cheap and answers-only is the right trade for some stores. Once you need the AI to do the work, or the per-conversation meter starts climbing, the comparison changes. Run your own numbers in the support cost calculator.

The other side

Choose Tidio if

An alternatives page that never tells you to stay is an ad. These are the situations where Tidio is the right call.

  • Your support is mostly FAQ traffic and answers are genuinely enough.
  • You want the lowest possible entry price and a widget you can install in minutes.
  • You do not need the AI to process refunds or change orders.
  • Your volume is low and stable, so a per-conversation AI meter stays cheap.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Tidio alternative that executes actions?

Nousu (our product) is the option in this comparison built to act, not only answer. It runs order lookups, creates return labels, and processes refunds within approval rules you set, on Shopify and WooCommerce, for a flat €29 to €149 per month with no per-conversation meter and no overage billing, as of July 2026 per nousu.chat/pricing. Tidio's Lyro answers and looks up but does not execute those actions.

Is there a Tidio alternative with flat AI pricing?

Yes. Tidio meters Lyro per AI conversation, so the bill tracks your volume. Nousu charges a flat monthly price per tier (€29, €79, or €149) with the conversation bundle included and overage never billed, as of July 2026. Your busiest month costs the same as your slowest.

Does Tidio work for WooCommerce, and do the alternatives?

Tidio supports WooCommerce through its WordPress plugin, for answers and lookups. Nousu treats WooCommerce and Shopify as equals with the same feature set, including actions. Intercom needs integration work for store actions on any platform, and Siena does not support WooCommerce. As of July 2026.

Is Tidio worth it for a small store?

It can be, at low and stable volume where answers are enough. Plans start at $24.17 per month and Lyro from $32.50 for 50 AI conversations. The math shifts when you need the AI to do the work, or when conversation volume climbs and the Lyro meter climbs with it. As of July 2026, per tidio.com/pricing.
